Most Frequent Questions
A raw food diet or B.A.R.F (biologically appropiate raw food) diet is based around a dogs ancestral diet. Let's not forget, that dogs are direct descendants of wolves, they once roamed wild and free. In fact, the modern domestic dog, still shares 98.8% of its DNA with the grey wolf. Which is why, at Teddy's, we believe it's only right to feed them food from their natural environment. This consists of a variety of meat, offal and bone. Along with fruit, veg and natural supplements; giving them everything they need for a healthy body and happy mind.
All our sourced meat products are 100% human grade and DEFRA approved which means you know your beloved pet is getting only the best products available. No artificial additives and no chemical fillers. Just everything your pet needs for a healthy body and happy mind.

An adult dog needs to eat around 2-3% of its ideal body weight. For example, Teddy is roughly 25kg, so we feed him 3% of his body weight which is 750g. We then split this into two meals a day. Easy right?
Every dog is different, so be mindful and adjust accordingly as you go along.
Keeping an eye on stools will also tell you if your feeding too much bone or offal.
One of the main questions we get asked is "is raw feeding safe?".
We understand you may have concerns about bacteria, more specifically Salmonella. We believe that as long as you maintain basic food hygiene, as you would with your own food preparation, the risk is as if you were preparing your own meats for meals.
Also, when a dog is on a BARF diet, research shows that a dogs stomach acid levels are between 1-2PH, meaning bacteria cannot easily survive in this environment. It's the stomach PH levels which also allow dogs to digest bones more easily.
Here at Teddy's we are a family run business with 3 children. We always defrost Ted's food for 24 hours in a sealed container in our home fridge, exactly as we would defrost our own meat for family meals. Defrosted raw food will last for 2-3 days in your home fridge; we personally choose to get frozen food out each day, ready for the next day. Easy!
